**I do provide support to those experiencing suicidal ideation and thoughts of self harm, however, I may refer to in-person services or a higher level of care if assessment determines that a telehealth platform is not the best fit for presenting needs**
Anxiety
Anxiety is a function of the brain that keeps us safe and protects us from harm. However, it can begin to show up when we do not need it to protect us. In treatment you will identify triggers unique to you, receive psycho-education about anxiety and the brain, learn the why behind mindfulness based strategies, and learn how to utilize CBT and ACT strategies to deconstruct and cope with worry thoughts.

Depression
Depression can look very different for each individual. In treatment we will explore the specific symptoms you are experiencing and match the appropriate interventions. This may include increasing self care habits as well as identifying and deconstructing unhelpful thinking patterns. You can learn how to use Cognitive Behavioral tools and Acceptance and Commitment strategies to process thoughts and cope with emotions effectively.
Trauma Processing
If you are reflecting on your childhood or other life experiences and realize that you would like to process these events and their impact on your emotional functioning and relationships we can explore this in session. Trauma informed treatment might include providing psycho-education about the impact of adverse experiences, practicing mindfulness, processing the trauma narrative & utilizing a psychodynamic approach to looking at past experiences, exploring the current impact, and finding best fit coping mechanisms.
(I do not provide treatment for those experiencing moderate to severe PTSD symptoms. Click here for a list of providers who specialize in trauma & PTSD)
Grief and Loss
You may be experiencing grief due to the loss of a loved one, a job, or a relationship. In treatment you will be encouraged to share your grief/loss narrative at your own pace. We will identify what your unique experience has been with the stages of grief and process related thoughts and emotions. When you are ready, treatment can include coping mechanisms and steps forward.
Adjustment
Major life transitions, (i.e. starting college, empty nesting, career change) often ignite an emotional response. In treatment you will be provided with a safe and comfortable environment to process thoughts and emotions about the recent changes in your life. We will work together to identify how the transition is impacting you, such as increased anxiety or low mood. I will then implement interventions and introduce adaptive skills to help ease the adjustment.
Relationship Issues
When interpersonal conflict arises it is sometimes hard to identify exactly how to respond (or not respond). In treatment you will learn effective communication skills and practice appropriate boundary setting. We might explore your attachment style and any early life experiences that may have attributed to how you interact and relate to others. We might also discuss how to utilize CBT tools to manage thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.
Personal Development
Therapy can be accessed by those looking to process their identity, values, or personal characteristics & strengths. You might be looking to strengthen your sense of self and increase self-confidence OR maybe you are in a transition that is shifting your values, such as a career change (also see outline for “Adjustment” above). Acceptance and Commitment Therapy might be utilized in sessions to assess and refine your value system, to set SMART goals (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Timely) to help align your behaviors with your identified values, and to increase psychological flexibility. For example, if you identify that one of your values is spending time with family, but you struggle aligning with this, we might set a short term goal for the week, to connect with a family member in some way. Some cognitive Behavioral interventions may also be utilized to connect thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and to challenge some “core beliefs” that have been developed through life experiences that may be getting in the way of having authentic relationships or carrying out goals that align with your value system.
